Yesterday Steve and Linda asked us to cruise with them to Bahi Honda State Park, stay overnight on their boat and then take a bus back to Marathon (they planned to stay out for several days).  We said okay, but thought we would come back to Marathon the same day .... wrong!!  Once we arrived it was so beautiful we said, okay we are in for an "over-nighter".  Above Joyce and Dave on a no longer used bridge overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

Dave and Joyce next to "Yesterdays Dream with the gulf in the background.

Tonight we head to Pat and George's for dinner aboard "Reflection"  ... this is mooching week for the Johnsons!

Steve and Linda with the bridge we were on in the background.  This place is absolutely gorgeous.

Above Steve and Dave returning to the marina after spending the afternoon dingy fishing under the bridge.  We had a ball catching nice fish ... unfortunately they were the not-to-good-to-eat variety or were several inches from being legal size.  No matter what, it was a fun afternoon!

Next blog update will be after next Saturday when we board the cruise ship out of Fort Lauderdale.

Yesterday was the first relatively warm day for sometime.  Captain Linda and Steve took Joyce and Dave fishing in the Atlantic Ocean.  It turned out to be a beautiful day ... but a little "bumpy" six miles out ... and the fishing was not-so-great ... can you spell skunk?

Hey no skunking here ... we went to the gulf side, had lunch and caught a couple of whooper's!  Not quite big enough to filet ... but they saved face:-)

Beautiful day ... who needs fish anyway!

We haven't been doing a lot lately.  Hanging out around the pool, laying out at Sombrero beach, visiting our friends at Banana Bay and going to the movies.  Yesterday we entertained our friends Linda and Steve and their friends Barbara and Laura.  We cooked out hamburgers with baked beans and macaroni salad ... really good!  ... and really good company!  Interesting conversations and lots of laughs.

Yesterday and the next couple of days are kind of chilly (relatively speaking) ... highs in the 60's and lows might drop to the upper 40's  ... burrr ... not use to those temps.  How quickly we forget ... my Hoosier friends and I use to golf in 40 degree weather:-)

Thanks to Pat and George Hospodar this year's AGLCA Sunset Celebration at Banana Bay was a smashing success.  Above Pat introduces Curtis Stokes (our broker for both buying and selling our boat) who gave a very informative talk on today's market and the do's and don'ts of selling a boat ... good job Curtis!

And the live music was fantastic!  The musical group played well into the evening and they were enjoyed by all.  Above and left is Donnie on the guitar singing solo.  Great job Donnie!  The group hasn't played together much (you couldn't tell it!) and consist of a couple amateurs and three professionals ... we hope they perform again next year because they made it a very special event.

Above George sells his book (Reflection on the Great Loop ... great read ... order it online at  Amazon) while Joyce hands out name tags.

Food, food everywhere ... and oh so good!

We are not sure how many attended, but it was well over 100 members and guests.

We drove to Banana Bay for happy hour and to see our Cape Cod/Florida friends Jon and Susan ... and they were "Crew-less".  Jon and Susan are only going to be here a few days, so they left Crew at home ... miss you Crew!

Later that evening Pat, George, Susan, Jon, Linda, Steve, Joyce and Dave drove to Takara, a Thai restaurant  just down the road.  Ate too much and laughed a lot.  Its a wonder this happy, loud, having-too-much-fun group didn't get thrown out:-)

02-09-2013 This evening Joyce and Dave had the Franko boys and their wives over for a 100% vegan dinner.  It amazes us how good this food tastes.  The hors devours' , an artichoke spread, was a little on the hot side, but not bad.  The main dish, potato pizza, was delicious accompanied by salad with a great vegan dressing.  We don't want to scare everybody ... so tomorrow morning we are going out for breakfast ... eggs, bacon, ham , sausage .... all the other good stuff :-)

We had a wonderful evening ... good food and great guests!

Steve and Linda took Joyce and Dave fishing on the Atlantic side today.  Cruising out beyond the Sombrero tower, Captain Linda suggested that Steve and Dave troll fish until we got to our anchorage destination.  So, obeying Captain orders we let out a couple of lines and almost immediately Steve caught a mackerel ... and Dave followed up with another catch.   Good for us ... because that was the last keepers we caught all day!  After going thru 2 chum bags and many shrimp and squid ... not to mention getting the anchor stuck, we ended up with two fish ... but they were oh so tasty later that evening!   It was a beautiful day on the ocean ... fish or not:-)

Pat Hospodar organized a Super Bowl tail-gate party today and it was another successful Banana Bay event.  Around 50 people attended bringing all kinds of hors devours ... oh so good!

Of course "Bookie Betty" was there with her gambling grid!  Not sure who the winners are ... but I hope they enjoy my $10 donation:-)

Okay girls, what gives?  Distributing the proceeds before the game? :-)

Afterwards everybody left to watch the game at their choice  of place ... happy and tummy full!

Hey ... a first!  Walked out our condo yesterday afternoon and two manatees were swimming under the boat docked in front of our place.  We see a lot of them in Banana Bay but this is our first sighting here.  As always, fun to watch.
